Shoe, Bob and "Prudence" before
her first post resurection ride.
Lotsa fresh new chrome
from V-Twin & Drag
Specialties.
A super cool carb support & motor mount,
both hand made.
Dad says this is the first of the 80" FL's, a real kewl one. He described the
Prestolite ignition that came stock as a "punk" and it'll kick easier with a Super E.
For me, this is what a real Harley is. Twin style shocks, a real swing-arm, ram horn
bars, baby bob tanks and the key ingredient,,,,,
a Shovel Head. Ill mannered, oil leaking, elecrical-failure in motion, and I love it.
I'm feeling a frame epoxy coat, sandblast the cases, toss the stock bendix throat for
a shiny new S&S complete with intake manifold. The wiring is shot, I'm have rewired
it and got a new brackets for the coils,, looks like they are mounted to a chunk of
fence post. We're gonna opt for a Dyna S and matching coil kit. Once it's stripped to
rewire, everything removed will either be polished. powdercoated or replaced with an
inexpensive chrome piece. The rear wheel was eaten by a faulty battery vent tube
and vengeful voltage regulator. This is an easy win with a new chrome 40 spoke wheel.
Got some snake eye turn signals to help navigate traffic. New chrome handle controls
finish the bars nicely. A freshly rebuilt set of heads with big Manleys, unleaded
seats, heavy springs and modern seals made her run clean and strong.
